I would like to thank the residents of the Downlands & Forest Ward for their support and trust in returning me once again as their representative on New Forest District Council. I am delighted that so many local electors turned out to vote. 1,858 ballot papers were issued in the Ward which has a total electorate of 2,422, making the turnout over 76%. This means that once again the Downlands & Forest Ward had the highest percentage turnout of any Ward within the New Forest and was well over the national turnout of 66%.
I was humbled to receive such overwhelming support from the electorate, with 1,436 votes this represents not only over 77% of the votes cast but also the support of over 59% of eligible voters. I pledge to work hard for all the residents of the parishes of Breamore, Damerham, Hale, Martin, Rockbourne, Whitsbury & Woodgreen over the next four years.
The spectacular national results for the Conservative Party in the General Election was similarly replicated locally. Conservative candidates won 58 of the 60 seats at New Forest District Council and will now work to deliver its policies as they were set out within the Party’s local Manifesto (New Forest District Conservative Manifesto 2015).
